Round 30 Recap; Playoff Matchups; Coppa di Walt final leg

Final Table
Coppa di Walt

Congratulations to newcomers OzaukeeBrewMeisters as they defeat BIFA 29-28 to lay claim to the 2011-2012 Coppa di Walt, the world's greatest fantasy knock-out competition. Ozaukee lifts the first trophy in its history and claims a spot in next season's Europa League. BIFA has already secured the other Europa League spot by winning the Supporter's Shield (regular season champion.) Please note that if BIFA or Ozaukee wins the league, then they will represent the WLP in the Champions League and the league runner-up will participate in the Europa League. If both BIFA and Ozaukee reach the final of the playoffs, then the 2nd place regular season team will be the WLP's 3rd European representative. Again, hats off to the Ozaukeeians. I'm sure the Spotted Cow was flowing like the salmon of Capistrano.

The BrewMeisters deny the resurgent BIFA a 2nd major trophy by lifting the famous Coppa di Walt.

In league play, the battle for the last two playoff spots came down to the last game of the weekend. Stevie G defeated Deportivo to jump both FMAC and Frayser to claim the 9th spot. Tied on points, both FMAC, Derby losers, and Frayser were defeated, fifth loss in five for both as well, but FMAC gets the 10th spot based on the first tiebreaker which is Goals Scored. Champions Frayser, like the Memfricans a season before, succumb to the Champions Curse and fail to make the playoffs a year removed from its title winning campaign. Frayser, a worthy Champion, deserved better, but every man who chooses to step into the fantasy ring knows what a cruel mistress she can be. Surely Frayser will be back in the summer in a quest for Euro 2012 glory.

Each playoff round will be contested over 2 legs. Seeds 1-6 will not compete in the playoffs until April 9. We will re-seed after each round. The Transfer Window closes on Friday at 10 pm CDT, as is the usual.

Round 29 Recap - "If the playoffs started today..."

Updated Table

Round 29 saw BIFA secure the Supporter's Shield for its first ever major trophy. BIFA has now qualified for next year's Europa League, a competition in which it humbly crashed out in the group stages a season ago.

The Coppa di Walt champion will be crowned this round as the 4th leg of the Ozaukee/BIFA final will conclude. Ozaukee leads 30-19 as the BrewMeisters look to lift the first trophy in its history and secure a place in next season's Europa League.

With one round remaining in the regular season, 8 of the 10 playoff spots have been secured. Four teams are left to battle it out for the final two spots. As it stands, FMAC and champions AC Frayser are 9th and 10th. However, Stevie G and FCFrodo are still alive. FMAC and Frayser sit on 39 points, Stevie G is at 37 and Frodo is at 36. Frayser faces Frumundacheese. Stevie G is up against Deportivo. The Frodoians battle the Ramblin' Rogues while BIFA, in the Stadio Gallina Derby - the Derby of Derbys - will determine the fate of FMAC.

If the playoffs started today, then here be the matchups:

These 6 win byes to the quarterfinals:

1 BIFA v. Qualifier
2 Real Chapala v. Qualifier
3 Memfrica v. 6 WAGS and Wankers
4 Gemmill 78 v. 5 OzaukeeBrewMeisters

Play-in Ties

Sorry for the delay, but I've been on a Fox Meadows barnstorming tour this week - 3490 miles in 71 hours. Such is the demand for all things FMAC these days.

BIFA retakes the top spot with a Jim Dandy of a win over the Memfricans. Spots 4-11 are up in the air. Transfer window closes tonight. Round 27 begins tomorrow. 3rd Round Pro Cup matches are this weekend for those still alive as is the Europa League's Round of 512 for the aforementioned FMAC.

Good luck.

Round 25, Coppa di Walt, Pro Cup Recap

Updated Table
Updated Coppa di Walt
Updated FA Cup
Updated BS Cup
Updated Playoff Chances - Biggest Movers: Beerguts United +14.8%, Stevie G FC -18.1%

According to Sports Club Stats, Memfrica, BIFer and Chapala have all clinched playoff spots. The Romosexual is the only that has gone fishin'.

Memfrica holds on to the top spot and takes one more step towards reclaiming the Suppporter's Shield with a thrilling -3 to -4 victory over the lowliest Romo. Ozaukee holds a significant lead over BIFA after two legs of the Coppa di Walt final at 16-8. The Rogues continue to currently lead the most insignificant of cup competitions, the BIFA Spirit Cup - see League Series link at fantasyleague.com - albeit tenuously as 5 teams are within 7 points of the top spot. Beerguts, Round 25's top scorer, along with FMAC, Chapala and the Ramblin' Rogues all move through to the 3rd round of the Pro Cup.

There are no league games this weekend due to the FA Cup. Please adjust your rosters to your liking.

The transfer window closes as usual at 10 pm CST on Friday.

Round 24, Europa League, Pro Cup, Coppa di Walt Recap

Updated Table
Updated Coppa di Walt

The legend of the Fox Meadows Athletic Club grows and grows as the flagship club of the Walt League Premier defied the odds, yet again, to advance to the round of 324 in the Europa League as they took down another 8-team league/supersub team in the first round of the knockout stages. This feat was another first for the league as FMAC, already the first and only WLP club to advance out of a European group stage, became the first to win a game in a European knockout stage. After the result, the loyal fans gathered at Knight Arnold and Clarke to celebrate into the night.

In league play, Memfrica reclaimed the top spot in the race for the Shield as they took down Stevie G in the Nefflandia derby. FMAC, to go along with its European success, put up the most points this round. With 6 rounds to go, there is a serious playoff race brewing. Just 3 points separate 5th from 11th and 7 points separate 5th from 12th.

In the 1st leg of the Coppa di Walt final, Ozaukee jumps out to an 11-0 lead.

In the 1st Round of the system-wide Pro Cup, Real Chapala, FMAC, Memfrica, BIFA (bye), Rogues (bye), Gemmill, Ozaukee (bye), Beerguts, Frayser, WAGS and Fergie all advanced to the second round.

Round 25 is this weekend. Transfer window closes on Friday night at 10 CST.
